A book on “Ecological Spirituality: Cross Cultural Perspective” by Dr. Fr. Davis George and Fr. Valan Arasu

From time immemorial, the quest for the truth has kept the humankind exploring and discovering the mysteries of life. The various discoveries at different levels have unraveled some great truths to encourage man to continue in this direction. Religion deals with the inner space and Science deals with the outer space. To create awareness of relation between science and religion and to motivate individuals to explore the scientific aspects of religion St. Aloysius organized a two days national seminar on “Ecology and Religion: Ecological Spirituality in Cross Cultural Perspective”. Delegates from various parts of the Country were invited to think and reflect on ecological spirituality from a cross cultural perspective. More than 180 participants and 160 papers were presented in this seminar.

After seeing the enthusiastic response it was decided to bring out a book on “Ecological Spirituality: Cross Cultural Perspective”. Thus this book contains thirty eight selected papers written by environmentalists, ecologists, researchers and academicians who share their concerns regarding ecological and spiritual responsibilities, particularly in the face of individual technological advancements during the new millennium. These papers are but a small sample of the many ecological concerns that have begun to motivate educationalist to become active agents in the sustenance of a global climate which fosters a meeting ground between development and environmental preservation. With a broad spectrum of engaging themes from land vegetation patterns, relevance of herbal plants, man’s onus towards his surroundings to ethical concerns like Euthanasia, the articles are sure to fill the gaps in our knowledge and generate new questions, regarding ecological and spiritual ties. Thus, for those who intend to bridge ecology and religion, this anthology may prove to be an indispensable source. Those who are interested to purchase this book may contact Fr. Valan Arasu, St. Aloysius College, Jabalpur.
